Mission Statement
Throughout this semester the EDU 110: Supporting 21st Century Learning through Technology course has provided a survey of critical use of instructional technology appropriate for supporting 21st Century teaching and learning. The course introduced my classmates and I to current technology tools that are being used in classrooms today through Project-Based Learning environment. In the class we worked on educational issues that have been identified and need to be solved. We did many assignments that involve us getting a thorough understanding of technology integration and applying it in classrooms. The course also gave us a list full of ideas that we can us as future teachers to enhance learning and classroom management through the use of technology. My inspired future profession is to be a history teacher at the high school level. This a subject that has a lot of controversy on how it should be taught and how much information a teacher can provide because in this learning field the textbooks do not always tell the whole story. That being said I would integrate technology into my classroom by making my classroom environment more organized and suitable for my students by using applications/websites like Classdojo, Goformative.com, and Google Classroom. Those three tech tools make a class more efficient by keeping students and teachers connected throughout the week instead of just in the classroom and also a way to get parents more involved in what is going on in the class. These tools also track attendance, grades, supplies assignment lists, sends out mass emails to the class and also provides a place to track assignments and store them automatically. Other ways I would use this class in my future career is by keeping an open class discussion on twitter throughout the course where students can add comments, videos, articles, and other things that can be looked at through this differentiation strategy. In this class we were taught about and how to use a variety of applications to improve how we can teach, I am only a sophomore in college and have few years before I figure out what I start my base teaching with and then improve as I grow and learn from others in my field throughout my educational career. This course has provided me with a selection of tools and trick to make my teaching better for my students and I will plan to use
more than just a few things I learn this semester and know for a fact technology way play a key role in my classroom.
